It's official! I am all healed and released to go back to work, unfortunately! I can't believe it has already been 6 weeks! Mason and I were finally getting into a great routine, and now I have to go back to work and disrupt it all. Luckily, Mason will be going to my Mom's, so that will help the transition. I hope all of you who are stay at home Mom's are very grateful for the time you have with your children.
In the past 6 weeks being a Mom, I have realized a few things. So here it goes:
*I should've slept a LOT more while I was pregnant
*Either be quick when you change a diaper, or you WILL be peed on
*Make sure you have a good grip on the babies ankles when you change a diaper or you WILL get poop on their feet
*You CAN'T just "run in" anywhere- you have to really think "is it worth it" to pack the diaper bag, drive there, get the baby out, pick up what you need, get him back in the car & home, without him crying
*You avoid places that don't have changing stations in the bathroom
*You are DISGUSTED when you actual have to use the changing station (they are SO gross)
*You can't go ANYWHERE with the baby without someone asking you at least one of these questions:
1-Boy or Girl?
2-How old?
3-What's his name?
4-Are you breastfeeding? Why not?
5-Is he a good baby?
6-Do you want more kids?
7-Can I hold him?
*Your adult conversations now begin with a story about the baby
*Your conversations with other Mom's are now an exchange of baby stories
*Once you think you are ready to walk out the door, it takes a minimum of 15 more minutes to actually get out the door
*You CAN'T make plans in advance anymore, but if you do, you will NEVER be on time
*When venturing out you must have the following items:
diapers, wipes, 2 spare outfits, bib, burp cloth, formula, bottles, 2 pacifiers, portable changing pad, blanket, mylicon drops, infant tylenol, and stroller- oh, and of course, the BABY!
*If you don't want a cold dinner, you & your partner must eat in shifts, because even when you have changed, fed, and put the baby to sleep- he WILL wake up as soon as you sit down
*Showers mean SO much more to me now
That is just a few things I have realized, but the most important thing I have realized is there is nothing in the world like being a Mom!
On a side note, Mason & I have our first play group on Tuesday night with some fellow Mom's. We are very excited to play with the other babies and have some adult conversation!!

you are sooooo right on so many of those new realizations!!! lol
one of my tips...use the stroller as your changing station!!
and amen to some adult conversation! i really dont think i can watch another episode of tigger & pooh or dora...!! but i do!! and know them all by heart! i honestly could not tell you whats new on the radio anymore or for that fact for the last 3 years!! lol but its all worth it, especially when your lil one starts to talk and says...mommy, mommy, and you say what?? and you get a "i love you mommy"!!!! ahhh, i love it!
you are doing a great job, he is beautiful!
It is hard to go back to work but Mason told me he was excited to get to spend some time with Momaw (& Popaw)! I can't wait to get into "our" routine. Mason said he wanted to get into the garage with Popaw and start building his old car.
Adult talk is rare but necessary to sanity to enjoy it when you can! (Mason is just a little to young for play group but he will be playing soon and you will wonder where the time went!)
I hate to say I told you so but your sister and I both said "sleep, sleep, sleep!" The same goes for now too because it's going to be tiring to get up every three hours at night and work an 8 hr. day then come home fix dinner get him bathed fed and in bed then doing it all over again! So go to bed when he does and try to catch up on the weekends (instead of running around).
Anyway, love you all and can't wait to get to take care of Mason!!!
I love this post!! Soooo true!!! Except besides my diaper bag we often travel with either a tiny cooler filled with breastmilk and icepack or/and my pump bag with accesories!
And instead of are you breastfeeding? Why not? I get, are you sure she is getting enough from just you?? (actually not anymore now that she is such a chunkster!)
So funny! Can't wait for our play date too! Wish you could join us for class @ Nova starting next month. They would be in the same age group. :-(
