Mason- 1 Month Old

I can't even believe Mason is already 1 month old. This past month has been fun, tiring, emotional, exciting, and definitely a learning experience! Mason is a very good baby. He only cries when he is hungry or gassy- Mylicon has become our new best friend! Let me tell you, this boy can fart; he can clear the room! He is a great eater, but unfortunately, he is on formula only. We tried breastfeeding for the first 2 weeks, but my milk just stopped. I was feeding him every 3 hours, and pumping in between that, but for whatever reason, it just stopped coming out. (The Doctor says this can happen) I am not even too sure that it ever fully came in, but we gave it our best shot. We started him on Enfamil Lipil, which is most like breast milk, but he was spitting it up a lot. We then switched to Enfamil Gentlease for fussiness & gas, which he has had no problems on this formula. I was upset that breastfeeding did not work, but I also know that there is nothing wrong with formula. I decided a long time ago that I would not feel guilty if he had to have formula. I didn't make the decision not to breastfeed, my body made that decision for me.

Mason's 1st Month:
6/23 1st time he peed on me- Twice @ 2:30am- Didn't even realize what was happening! I couldn't grab the pee pee tee pee quick enough!
6/24 I realized my true HATE for snaps on PJ's
6/27 Lost belly button cord
6/29 1st real bath- I even used water!
Side story: The first time I watched my nephew Jax, I gave him a bath. (He was around 5 months old) I couldn't figure out why he was shivering & turning purple the whole time, so I hurried, and got him out of there. When I told my sister what happened, her response was, "Well did you put water in the tub?" Well, no, I hadn't! I don't even know what I was thinking. I had babysat my other nephew, Logan, and other kids many times, and always gave successful baths, but for some reason that night, it didn't even occur to me to add water! I just had him in his bath chair, and used a cup to dump water on him from the faucet.(Not my finest moment, but I was pregnant, so I blame it on pregnancy brain!)
6/30 1st time Mason pooped in my hand
7/4 I realized my HATE for fireworks
7/6 1st time Mason & I went out on our own- once we were ready to go, it only took us 45 more minutes to get out the door!
7/9 1st time at the beach- it was at night, we went to dinner with Mike's parents
7/13 Longest stretch sleeping at night- 4.5 hours

LOVES baths, HATES diaper changes, LOVES the car, HATES being flat on his back, LOVES/HATES the swing- depends on his mood, HATES noise while he is trying to fall asleep, but doesn't bother him once he is asleep, LOVES pacifier.

His 1 month check up isn't until next week, so I will update then with his weight/height. Check the "Mason" album for new pictures...

PS- For all of you wondering how the dogs are with Mason- they pretty much ignore him. They bark, he doesn't flinch. He cries, they don't flinch. It has been a very easy transition!

Mason is a beautiful baby and you are a great Mom. I'm really surprised about the dogs - I was sure Buddy would be jealous! wasn't sure about Daisy cause I haven't spent that much time with her. But Buddy has been a surprise and Mason too - barking doesn't bother him but fireworks do, huh, that's a new one!
As far as the breast feeding I'm convinced it had to do with all the hormones you had to take to get pregnant but regardless God knows best and He made sure Mason wouldn't be allergic to formula like you were.
Next 1st will be when Mason poops in bath and you have to start all over. This is usually happen when you've had a really trying day and just want to get him bathed, fed and both of you in bed!!!
Anyway, you are a great Mom, Mike is a proud and great Dada, and Mason is a great baby!! We love you all so much and I can't wait to start babysitting him!
