You finally make it though the terrible 2's, then the horrible 3's come, then they turn 4. For a second you put your guard down, high five the husband that you both survived, then you realize that age 4 is a whole new ball game. #thekindyoulooseandtheywin
Four year old's have split personalities. Have you ever seen a sour patch kid commercial- the sour patch candy cuts your hair off in the middle of the night, then they give you a hug. #firsttheyaresour #thentheyaresweet Yea, that's a 4 year old. The boy can go from screaming at me to telling me he loves me in literally 10 minutes. #jekyllandhyde You of course can't let them run you over, so then you are sitting there arguing with him, trying to gain control. About 10 minutes in you think, what am I doing? He is 4, I am 32, I am the parent here, but then it hits you, I think I am loosing- this kid has valid points. Then you have that awkward moment where you realize your kid has turned into you. #imfightingatinyversionofme #myparentsarelaughingsomewhere #pullittogether #youcantakehim You then gain control, but just for a second. You walk away feeling victorious, but don't get too comfortable, because crap, here he comes again. This is pretty much your life with a four year old. #constantbattlesandendlessloveallinone
The sad part is, punishment at this point is tricky. The first time you say you will take their TV away if they continue to act like this, you stop and think, what am I doing? That's more of a punishment for me. TV time is your few minutes of silence, are you ready to loose that even for one night?! #timeoutwontworkanymore #trustme
They also are very inquisitive at this age. The boy wants to know why there are cars in a parking lot, why are people at Publix, where are the cars on the road driving too? Be prepared, your answer is never right. They know the answer already, I am not even sure why they ask you. #letstoywithmommy #letsaskmommy500questionsjusttotellherheransweriswrong
Don't get me wrong, 4 year old's can be very fun, and they are becoming very self sufficient at this age. They can get themselves dressed, get a drink from the fridge, a snack from the cabinet. Hell, a couple week's ago the boy woke up, got himself cereal from the fridge, and shared it with the fish. Not only is he learning to share, he saved us from having to feed the fish. #winforeveryone #wellexceptfishcanteatcereal #neitherherenorthere
All in all the boy is a good kid, very loving, always giving hugs and kisses, but we just have to be careful because behind that boys sweet little face hides a miniature version of me... #sorryhusband #iammultiplying #inowknowwhatmyparentswentthrough #hopefullyhegetsmyhumorandsarcasmtoo
