Mason's 1st Christmas

Mason had an amazing 1st Christmas, thanks to all his family and friends. Even though he doesn't quite understand what Christmas is, he was so excited opening gifts. I would put a gift in front of him and he would get so excited and just crack up laughing- it was so cute! We were happy to spend the holidays with both sides of the family, thank you to everyone for making Mason's 1st Christmas so memorable! 1/2 A Year Old

"I'm how old?"

Wow, where has the past 6 months gone?! Mason is now pretty much sitting up un-assisted- he's still a little webble wobble, but getting better every day. He loves to sit up, play in his bouncer or exersaucer, and he is so amused by his cousins, Jax & Logan. He is eating solids 2 times a day. So far he has tried: pears, apples, bananas, banana/blueberry mix, peaches, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, green beans, & carrots. He HATES green beans & peaches, but likes everything else. The Doctor said that once he is completely sitting up on his own, we can give him some table food that is soft enough for him to gum since he has no teeth yet. He still wakes up once a night, but I am beginning to think he is just toying with me!
He went to Disney World for the first of many times, and he did great. He got to meet his other cousin, Madison, and he thought she was pretty great too. I took 1 picture the whole week- I know, it's terrible, but it was so hard to stop and pull the camera out! He is doing great with his helmet, and his head is rounding out great. We get MANY looks, but I don't even pay attention to them. Only a couple people have actually asked why he wears it. He is a very happy baby, and the past 6 months have really been amazing. He is really at a great age right now, and we can't wait to see what he learns to do next!

As you know, I check into the Hospital to be induced on Wednesday the 16th. They started the pitocin the next morning around 7am. Before they started the medicine, I was 2cm dilated and 80% effaced. Throughout the day, they increased the amount of pitocin I was receiving, which increased the intensity of the contractions. My Doctor came by to check me around 11am, and I was 3-4cm and 90% effaced. At that point, he broke my water to make me progress further. The contractions were VERY intense, but I held out a while before I got the epidural- I believe it was around 2pm or 3pm?! My Doctor came back around 5pm and I was only 5cm and still 90% effaced. At that point he told me that either the baby was too big or he was looking up & would not go properly down the birth canal- he expected me to be at 9-10cm, but I had only progressed 1cm in several hours. He said that even if we kept going, and I were to progress, I could push for hours and a c-section would be the end result. Mike & I decided that a c-section would be best if it would be the inevitable anyway. They began to prep me for surgery, and I was pretty much just ready for him to be out, but as they wheeled me into the operating room terror set in! Everything happened so fast, and in about 10 minutes after being wheeled in, Mason was here! I, of course, cried, and just laid there almost in shock. We had waited so long for him to be here, and now he was here- perfect and healthy.


I went to recovery, and Mike and Mason went to the nursery where Mason got to meet his extended family. We actually did not pick his name until Mike came to see me in recovery. Everyone was shocked to hear that we had chosen Mason, because it was not in our final 3 names, but after seeing him, we knew he was a Mason!
We have adjusted pretty well as a family of 3, and we just love him so much! Here are a few more pictures of our baby boy...






I was doing so well in the hospital that I did not have to stay the standard 72 hours. Mason was also very healthy, so they released us at 48 hours! It was so nice to finally be home. Mason dropped 10oz from birth to his first doctors appointment on Monday, the 21st- which is expected. They had us come back 2 days later to make sure he hadn't lost any more weight. They look for him to gain back 1oz/day, well he had gained 6oz in 2 days! The Doctor said he was amazed, and Mason was a very healthy, strong baby boy!

Full Term

I am officially "Full Term", which basically means I am 37 weeks and Baby DiVito is still in there. (I'm not bitter about it, though) He is still developing, but he would be fine if he came out at this point.

I had my weekly appointment yesterday, and I haven't progressed any from last week. I was a little disappointed, but I tried not going in with my hopes up too high. He had warned me last week that this could happen, so I was prepared. My next appointment is Wednesday, so we will see what happens. My Mom keeps saying that she thinks it will happen this weekend or early next week, but I think she is just telling me that to appease me- Thanks for that Mom! I know he will come out when he is ready, but I am so miserable and ready for him to be here. It is so weird how the pregnancy has flown by, but these last few weeks are dragging!!!

On a side note, we went to Disney this past weekend. My Family had already planned on being up there, but when Mike & I woke up on Saturday with nothing to do all weekend, we decided to head up to meet them. We stayed at the Dolphin, as usual, and had a very relaxing weekend. We laid around Saturday night, Sunday we had a character breakfast with the nephews, then swam all day, took a nap, went to Epcot for a couple of hours, walked the Boardwalk, then came home Monday. Luckily I got to borrow my Mom's motorized scooter, so I didn't have to walk at all. It was really nice to just relax before we become a family of 3! Thanks Mom & Dad for a great mini vacation.

And now we just wait...

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go...

This week I packed my bags for the hospital, and we installed the car seat in Mike's truck!

I am 36 weeks pregnant, and now go to the Doctor every week to be "checked". I have been having a TON of pressure & pain lately, so I was hoping that it meant I was dilating. Everyone kept telling me not to get my hopes up, because I am only 36 weeks. When I went to the Doctor on Monday, I told him about my pain/pressure, and that I hoped I was at least 1cm dilated. Now, I know you can be 1cm dilated for a long time, but it would give me some hope if I was. Well, before he checked me he told me what everyone else had been telling me- don't get my hopes up, because I was probably nothing. After he checked me, he was very surprised- I was 1cm dilated, 70% effaced, and the baby's head was already down and engaged. (Which means his head is already down in my pelvis, ready to go- that's why I feel so much pain/pressure). He said that means I am ahead of the game. In general, most woman between 35-36 weeks are not dilated, effaced, or anything. Now, with that said, when I go next week, I can still be the same as I was this week- you never know how fast you will progress. My next appointment is Wednesday, so we will see what happens, but I won't be surprised if Baby DiVito makes an appearance before his due date on June 24th!

PS: Dear Baby DiVito- Grandpa & Grandma Blake, and Aunt Whitney, Uncle Brad, & Cousins, Logan & Jax, are all leaving tomorrow for Disney World. They have asked if you can please not make your arrival this weekend, because they don't want to miss it. Also, Aunt Whitney wants you to wait until after the school year ends on June 9th. Don't tell them this, but Mommy & Daddy are ready for you now!

Baby Shower

I wanted to thank my sister for a GREAT baby shower on Saturday. She really did a great job on all the details, and it came out amazing. I know she is very busy with 2 little boys to take care of, so I am very thankful to her for giving me an amazing day. She also had help from my Mom, Dad, and Nana, so thank you to them as well. Baby DiVito is already loved by so many people, and we are so grateful for everyone's generosity. When we got home that evening, Mike was amazed at all the stuff we got. And this will come to no surprise to anyone who knows me, but we had everything organized that same night. On Sunday, I washed all the clothes and put them away, but everything else was pretty much done the night before! We are definitely ready for him to be here!

We haven't picked a name yet, but we have narrowed it down to 3:

2- Blake Michael
3- Case Michael

26 Weeks

This week has been another eventful week in the DiVito house. We went this past Saturday to order the baby furniture. We also bought the crib mattress and the changing pad. We decided on the Emily Collection by Million Dollar Baby:

We ordered all three pieces in black, as seen above. A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to my Mom and Dad who purchased the baby furniture for us. Mike and I are very thankful to you both for all that you do for us and our baby boy! The furniture should arrive within 4-10 weeks.

I also ordered on Monday, the bedding set, hamper, diaper stacker, and the mobile. I found it cheapest online at amazon.com with free shipping. They emailed me the same day to let me know it had already shipped, and we received it yesterday! It is really cute, and I can't wait to see the whole room put together! Here are some pictures:

I am now 26 weeks pregnant, feeling good, and just moving right along! The baby shower invites came in the mail this week too, so Whitney will be sending them out some time next week, so be looking for them! The registry information will be in with the invitation, but I did put a link to the registry on the top left corner of the blog. 15 Weeks To Go

I am 25 weeks pregnant, which means I have 15 weeks to go.

My week started out good, I went to the baby shower of my friend, Nicole. Nicole & I met probably several years ago when we used to go 4-wheeling. Our groups of friends basically intermixed when it came to redneck stuff. Then a couple of years ago when we both were engaged, we began exchanging emails about different wedding venues. She ended up leading me to Hillcrest where we both got married. Soon after that we began our pregnancy journeys. We were able to talk to each other about our ups and downs of trying to become pregnant, and therefore ended up becoming good friends. She has had a very long, rough road to become pregnant with her miracle baby girl, and I am so excited for her and her Husband Chris. Their nursery theme is "Garden", so I decided to make something that would go along with the theme. I saw the picture online, and gave it a try:



They are rolled up washcloths with spoons attached to the back of them. I had wished they sat up higher to see the spoons better, but I still thought they came out cute!

On Sunday, I went to Target and bought the babies first piece of furniture. We are getting a dresser and a changing table with drawers, but since we are not using the closet, I wanted something else to store stuff in. I found this:

The shelf was on sale for $39.99 and the cubes were on sale for $6/each! They really hold a lot of stuff. The shelf only came in white or wood, and our furniture is black, but we have white trim in the room & we are getting white blinds, so it goes nicely.

On Monday night, I did my first ever load of baby clothes laundry! It was very exciting, and surreal. It is crazy still for me to think that in a couple of months we will have a baby!


That was the exciting stuff of the week, then mid-week I got into this mood were I felt that I am the only one who wants to prepare for this baby now. If you know me, you know that when I want something, I want it yesterday. It is very hard for me to wait for things, and it is frustrating for me to hear "You have plenty of time"! I know I have 15 weeks until I am due, but I also know that I would rather have everything in order before I am so big & miserable, I can't do anything! I am a planner, I HATE last minute, and my husband is the president of the last minute club. I have tried to learn to except this, but it isn't easy when you are hormonal! Why can't everyone just appease me, it would really make things a lot easier for all of us!

Big Week

Let me start off by saying, this picture above is me. Not so much the klutz part, but the memory part. I have always had a great memory, but now that I am pregnant, I don't remember anything. I am having to write down stuff that I can't get to right away, just so I remember it! Crazy pregnancy hormones!


This past week was an eventful week with new "feelings" and experiences. First off, I am 23 weeks pregnant, 24 weeks on Thursday. Baby Boy moves around like crazy, and Mike was finally able to feel him last week. It is crazy how active this boy is. Last week I also had my first official uncomfortable pregnancy day. My uterus is about 1.5" above my belly button, and it feels like all of my organs are just sitting right below my boobs. I am getting used to it now, but what a strange feeling it is! My sleeping at night has come to a minimal, so that's fun seeing that I am only over half way there. I have always been a back sleeper, so to have to sleep on my side now, SUCKS! I really think my body is getting ready for the lack of sleep I will have once the baby is here. I am actually getting used to it, but I can't wait until I can sleep on my back once again!

On Saturday, Mike, my Sister, and I went to register at Buy Buy Baby in Coral Springs. We decided to register there, as opposed to the typical Babies R Us, because I DESPISE Babies R Us. Every time that I have had to go there to buy off someones registry, 4 out of the 5 items I want to buy are out of stock. What I don't understand is if they know they are that busy all the time, why don't they stock their shelves accordingly?! It really just gives me a headache going there, so I didn't want my registry experience to be a nightmare, nor did I want other peoples shopping experience to be a nightmare. Buy Buy Baby is a little further away being in Coral Springs, but it is so worth the drive. They are fully stocked with anything & everything, and they have sales associates all over the place to assist you. You can view our registry online here (just put in my name- "megan divito" in the give a gift section), and you can order almost everything online too.
Now, the registry experience was interesting. I had said all week before we went that Mike was going to be so overwhelmed with all the stuff a baby needs. Boy was I wrong! He was scanning all kinds of stuff, and about half way through, I was overwhelmed! It really wasn't the amount of stuff, I think it was more a panic about who was going to buy all this stuff! I know I am having a baby shower, but whatever isn't bought that we need, Mike & I will be buying it. It really kinda freaked me out! I just need to keep reminding myself that everything will fall into place! Luckily, my Sister was there to help us figure out the stuff we really need, and the stuff we can live without! (Thanks Whitney!)

It was definitely an exciting week, and I can't believe he will be here in a little over 16 weeks!

1/2 Way There & A Freak-Out

20 Weeks Today. That means I am 1/2 way there! Wow- that scares me! I have always wanted children, and when we began this journey of trying to get pregnant, all I could think about was how exciting and hard it would be to have a child. The day that I found out we were pregnant, the first thought was "Eventually, this child, which they compare to a watermelon will have to come out of me!" My first meeting with the OB, I brought this up to him. He was actually a little surprised that I was even bringing up the labor & delivery so early on. He said most woman don't worry about that until the end- then they are so miserable that they just want the baby out, whatever way necessary. I have to tell you- I am NOT looking forward to labor! I have a pretty good tolerance for pain, and I know they can give me an epidural, but the thought of the whole process REALLY freaks me out. I am also scared of the thought of having a c-section (if that's what I had to have). I have decided, that if the baby wants to, he can just stay in there!

On another note: I had my first official "freak-out" pregnancy moment. I had been having some shortness of breath at night when I lay down and also some pains every now and then. No cramps, and the pain wasn't constant, it was just every now and then I would just be like "oh, what's that". My monthly OB appointment wasn't until next week, but I called at the beginning of this week to see if they could move it up to this week, due to my new "symptoms". I never felt like something was wrong with the baby, but I have never done this before, so these feeling were new to me. You might think I am just being paranoid or something, but I am entitled to have my feelings since it is my first baby. I went to the OB yesterday, and he said everything I was feeling and experiencing was completely normal. The shortness of breath when I lay down at night is caused from me sleeping on my back. Apparently, you are not supposed to do that while pregnant, unless you have several pillows behind you. (Almost sitting up). He said he thought everyone knew that- well I did not! Most people aren't back sleepers anyway, but I always have been. The "pains" I have been feeling are "round ligament" pains. This is caused from the uterus expanding and stretching- completely normal. I felt much better after hearing all of that and also hearing the little guy's heartbeat. I have not yet felt movement yet, but the doctor said not to worry about that either- it may take a couple more weeks, because my uterus is thick. The doppler picked up a ton of movement. The doctor said the muffled noises I was hearing was him moving all over the place. Every time he would find the heartbeat, the baby would move again- so he is definitely active in there, I just can't feel it yet!

One last note: As you know, Mike and I went at 17 weeks to Ideal Baby Store to find out what we were having- it's a boy. My actual gender scan with the doctor is next week. My sister, who knew I might freak-out when I heard these stories, told me this week that she knows 2 people who over the last week found out that what they thought they were having isn't what they are having after all. One thought she was having a boy- found out the scan was wrong, it's a girl; and another who thought it was a girl, scan was wrong, it's a boy! You never really hear about the gender scans being wrong, but 2 in one week! The girl who did our scan was 200% sure it was a boy- I guess we will know for sure next week. (We really don't have too many doubts that it is a boy- it was pretty clear if you recall from the pictures!)

Mike & I have started looking at baby furniture & bedding. With the bedding, neither one of us is "sporty", so we have been looking at cars & trucks. We have found a few that we like. What do you think?

We looked at furniture at Ideal Baby Store after we had the ultrasound, but their stuff is WAY to expensive. Last weekend we went to Babies R Us and found 1 set that we liked. It is a crib, changing table, and a dresser.

The changing table will act as a dresser also, because the closet in the babies room is our storage closet. For now, all of the babies clothes will be in a dresser, then, when the time comes for more room, we will empty out the closet. The furniture comes in black or white, and we like the black. We are still looking around for furniture, but we did decide it will either be black or a dark wood.

Frogs & Snails & Puppy-dogs' Tails...

I have my gender scan appointment set for February 12. When I went to my regular OB appointment yesterday, I asked the Doctor if a gender scan would be accurate at this point.(I am 17 weeks). He said that they are accurate usually after 16 weeks, but it just works out that they don't do it until around 20 weeks. Well Mike & I were very anxious to find out what we were having (I was probably more anxious then him!). I made an appointment last night at Ideal Baby Store to get the gender scan ultrasound. (I didn't tell anyone we were getting it done) Mike was really hoping for a boy, but I really didn't care either way. I had been so excited to find out, but when I woke up yesterday, it started to really sink in. I was going to find out if we would be raising a son or a daughter. This was going to make the pregnancy so real- it had felt real already, but this was going to make it VERY REAL! We arrived at the place at 6pm, and by 6:20pm we knew FOR SURE, it was a BOY!!! Mike just let out a big "YES!". We are both thrilled! Well I had been thinking about how we would tell my Parents, Sister & her family, but over the last couple of days, my Mom & Sister had come down with strep throat! I didn't want to catch those germs, but I also knew I wouldn't be able to keep it a secret very long. I decided to put on a piece of paper for each of them a poem for a boy & a poem for a girl: ( I would give them the envelope with the appropriate poem in it- depending on boy/girl)

We went to my parents house first, and when my Dad opened the door, I said Mike & I will wait out here (we didn't want the sick germs), but take this envelope to Mom & open it together. They were both very happy! We then proceeded to go to my Sister's house & do the same thing. They were also very happy for us. Lucky for me, my Sister has 2 boys, so our Son will get lots of cute hand-me-downs!
We can't wait to start shopping for our little guy. The place we had the ultrasound is a baby store, so when we came out of the room, we walked around & looked at stuff. This was Mike's first time ever in a baby store, & he was really getting into it! We can't wait to meet our little guy!!

PS- We only called our Families last night when we found out. It is too hard to call all of our friends, so blogging about it is the best way to tell our friends & extended family. So, PLEASE don't be mad if you did not get a personal phone call from Mike or me.

December in a Nutshell

I have been slacking on blogging lately, but the month of December was here and gone before I even knew what happened. We went to Disney World the week before Christmas for our annual "Blake/Koester/Humphreys/DiVito- Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party". We went later in the month then we usually do, so to come home the week of Christmas and realize I hadn't done any Christmas shopping yet, was a little crazy! We had a great time in Disney; our friends Dan and Crystal with their 2 kids Kayla and baby Dan even joined us this year! I love going to Disney at Christmas time, everything is decorated so nice! It was a first for me going pregnant, I wasn't able to go on my favorite rides, but that's ok, I watched Baby Dan so Crystal and Dan could ride them. We, of course, ate at Shula's- Mike would probably eat there every night if I would let him! We also stayed at the Dolphin, which is where we always stay; Shula's is actually in our hotel, so it is very convenient.
We spent Christmas at my parents house, where I believe Baby DiVito got more stuff then we did. I guess that's what happens when you have kids!

Baby DiVito got clothes, toys, diapers, washcloths, blankets, and a baby book. Since we don't know what we are having yet, everything was neutral- except Nana couldn't resist buying one boy and one girl outfit.

The day after Christmas we headed to Dahlonega, Georgia to see Mike's family. We stayed through new years, and we even got to see some snow!





By morning it had pretty much melted, but it was nice to see. We had a great week with his family, and Mike's parents also had some goodies for Baby DiVito.

Mike's dad also had some stuff of Mike's when he was a baby!

So we had a great, very busy, month of December. Even though it was a good month, I am glad it is over! Now I am in full baby mode. We can't wait to find out what we are having, so we can start buying stuff for the nursery!
